Letter from the Chairman

Happy March!

Many of you were at the Signature Breakfast three weeks ago when I announced to the membership that Greg Pecoraro was going to be stepping down as Executive Director. Thank you for joining me in expressing our appreciation for his years of service, dedication, and leadership.

At the request of the Executive Committee, Ed Rothstein has accepted the position of Interim Director while we transition into the next phase of the Partnership. In addition to his time on the Partnership Board, Ed’s experience as Garrison Commander, president of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, and, currently, running his consulting agency provides him with the familiarity of the region and the association that will be invaluable in the months to come.

We will welcome Ed officially into the position at the March 8th Signature Breakfast. I look forward to seeing you there!

New Miles & Stockbridge Leaders

Partnership member Miles & Stockbridge announced Nancy Greene has been voted in as its first-ever woman chair and Joseph Hovermill as CEO, as part of a move to broaden the 86-year-old firm’s governance.

Greene and Hovermill succeed John Frisch, who’d been chairman and CEO for 15 years. Both are members of Miles & Stockbridge’s board of directors and leaders in their respective practice areas.

Greene has a real estate practice, and Hovermill is a products liability and tort litigator. He’s also been the firm’s president and chief operating officer for the last three years. According to the firm, the shared leadership role will allow them both to keep practicing law.

A newly-created executive committee has also been established, to which Greene, Hovermill, and co-leader of the corporate and securities practice Christopher Johnson have been appointed.

The 250-lawyer, mid-Atlantic firm has offices in Maryland, Washington and Tysons Corner, Virginia. It ranked No. 182 by revenue in the most recent Am Law 200 rankings.
